Frequently Asked Questions
  • Is there an additional cost for helmets?: Yes. Tackle football helmets are $190 includes decals, if you don't have one. Decals can be sold separately for $25
  • Can my child play up an age division?: We prefer that they play their correct age division, but if there is an exception request, please email that information to football@bya.org for consideration.
  • Is there a uniform fitting?: Yes. ALL PLAYERS must attend a uniform fitting. Failure to size for football uniform prior to June 5th will result in late fees being assessed. Players not sized by June 29th will not be able to play.
  • Fitting/In Person Signup Dates: 4/19 Sat, 4/23 Wed, 5/17 Wed, 5/31 Sat, 6/14 Sat, 6/17 Tue, 6/28 Sat Meet the Raiders. 7/7 Mon Last Fitting
  • Where will uniform fittings be held at?: Uniform fittings will take place at "The Whitley Building" located at Bartlett Park. Address: 550 NW Summercrest Blvd. #101, Burleson, Texas 76028. *Not the BRICK*
  • What sanction does BYA follow?: BYA is a founding member of Northwest Texas Youth Football Association (NWTYFA).
  • Who is main contact for football?: You can contact the VP of Football, Doug Melchior at football@bya.org.
  • What's the oldest player allowed?: No player may be 13 prior to 9/1/2024 and cannot be in the 7th grade.
  • When do team practices start?: First padded practice can start 14 July. Coaches will contact you the day they will start.
  • Will their be any conditioning camps?: Yes. Dates will be announced soon but will start in May and run through end of June. This year will have Skills Camp, Strength and Conditioning Camp, and Lineman Camp.
  • What kind of jersey will we be getting?: Flag football receives a two dri-fit jersey with shorts (home and away) and tackle football will receive two jerseys and a two pair of pants.(home and away)
  • When is certification?: All players must attend a certification in order to play. The free one will be 2 August. There will be a late certification and will be $50 to be paid at certification by parent held on 16 August.
  • Is there an additional raffle?: The $30 raffle fee is included in the registration price. If you sell the tickets, you keep the $30.
  • When do games and playoffs start?: Games will start 30 August. The season is 9-weeks. Playoff games will start 1 November. Superbowl is 22 November.
  • Can I bring outside food or drinks?: No outside food or drinks may be brought into any games. Players may bring drinks and team parent may bring snacks and drinks in for the players and cheerleaders. We follow same rules Burleson Independent School District has set for all fields.
