BYA Baseball Mission Statement

The BYA Recreational Baseball Program is designed to attract as many players in the community, who have a sincere interest in the game, as possible. In our younger leagues we attempt to include every single player who registers to play. Our goal is to give the youngest players in our program an opportunity to gain a fondness for and an interest in the game. We also strive to give them every chance to learn the basic skills the game requires.

As our recreational players advance in age, we still provide an "all inclusive" approach to participation. The privilege of increased participation is earned through attainment of performance levels by conscientious attendance at games and practice sessions, as well as general conduct and development on the playing field.

FAQ – NON-RESIDENT FEE

The Burleson Youth Association utilizes game fields at the Chisenhall Sports Complex for our sports programs. These fields are owned and maintained by the City of Burleson, and the maintenance costs of these fields are primarily covered by taxes paid by City of Burleson residents. However, a significant percentage of BYA’s membership comes from outside the City of Burleson (even though within the Burleson ISD boundaries).  Taxes paid to the Burleson ISD do not cover any of the maintenance or operational expenses of the Chisenhall Sports Complex.

Beginning in 2010, the City of Burleson began collecting a $3 non-resident fee per sport, per season for any BYA members that live outside the city limit boundaries of the City of Burleson. While the basic registration fees for BYA members go toward the administration of our sports programs, the non-resident fee is collected by BYA and paid to the City of Burleson, to help offset the maintenance costs for the Chisenhall Sports Complex.  This type of non-resident fee schedule is common among cities within the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Parking at Chisenhall Fields

Please remember when parking at Chisenhall, you must be parked in a designated parking spot (per city ordinance). Burleson PD does come through and issue tickets for violations such as the pictures below (in front of the concession stands, the dumpster area, and along the fence entrance to the overflow parking area). The overflow lots are open with plenty of parking. Plan to arrive early to park your vehicle. If parking in the overflow, allow room for cars already there to leave easily (no one wants to be blocked in). Finally, always lock your car and hide/take valuables!

Choosing the Right Bat

We created a bat buying guide that breaks down how players should go about choosing the right bat, including length, weight, material and even league regulations. You can check it out here: www.homerunmonkey.com/baseball-bat-buying-guide.
