Cheer
Burleson Youth Association is a charter member of the Northwest Texas Youth Football Association. We currently play teams in Aledo, Brock, Cleburne, Crowley, Granbury and Weatherford. Cheer squads are formed in the same manner as football teams, by grade level.
Flag cheer is offered to children who are 4 years old as of September 1st and incoming kindergartners. Tackle cheer is offered to children in 1st through 6th grades. In order to provide a safe and fun learning environment, as well as to account for various skill levels, age appropriate squads will be formed. For example 1st graders will cheer on a first grade team and 2nd graders on a 2nd grade team and so on. In the event there are not enough girls in a specific grade level those girls may be asked to move up or down one level. The Drill team program is offered to girls grades 1st through 8th.
Burleson Youth Association is proud to offer a Buddy Cheer Program. The purpose of this program is to offer children with special needs an opportunity to participate in our youth cheer program, to foster the interaction between special needs children and non-special needs children, and to promote mutual feelings of acceptance and respect. The program is open to all special needs children between the ages of 5 and 11 years old who are physically able to participate in extra-curricular activities.
Winter Cheer/Drill
Burleson Youth Association offers a winter cheer and drill team program that coincides with basketball season. This program is separate from the football program. Most of the games will be in Burleson until the program grows. Squads are not attached to a specific team, but will perform for different teams (boys and girls) each week. Cheer is offered for children 5 years old through 6th grade. Drill Team is offered for 1st grade through 8th grade.
Our goal is to provide every child a chance to participate in organized team activities, while learning friendship, responsibility, accountability and conduct in order to become an upstanding citizen in our community.
